This is the second post that looks at the great article by Dr. Brown in the July 2023 issue of Decision Magazine by Michael Brown entitled “God’s Word Defines Reality.” The link is God’s Word Defines Reality (decisionmagazine.com).
In reference to homosexual practice, Dr. Brown correctly writes [emphasis added]:
When it comes to homosexual practice, there is not one positive reference to same-sex couples in the entire Bible—not one—whereas every single reference to marriage, family, parenting and relationships presupposes heterosexuality. This ranges from the command to honor one’s father and mother in the Ten Commandments to teachings on husbands and wives in the New Testament. Heterosexuality is presupposed, whereas any references to same-sex relationships are flatly and strongly condemned.
That’s why Biblical commentators and Biblical translators never questioned the subject until after the sexual revolution. That’s why both church and synagogue were in full agreement that homosexual practice was forbidden until radical changes came to modern society.
It is the world that has changed, not the Word. We stray from the Word at our own peril.
It was not until after the sexual revolution that people tried to argue that the Bible supported homosexual practice. Up until then, any argument that the Bible supported homosexual practice was not on the radar screen. Why, because the Bible clearly prohibits homosexual practice and people knew it.
Dr. Brown spells out the downward fall into a cesspool as society moves to accept same-sex relationships and ALL KINDS of polyamourous relations as “committed” and loving. One has to wonder the object of the “commitment” and the “love.” Possibly, the answer is self. Note that he warns Christians are the target of the LGBTQ movement.
Some fundamental passages teach without equivocation the sinfulness of same-sex relationships. These passages are:
Leviticus 18:22 (NET) – 22 You must not have sexual intercourse with a male as one has sexual intercourse with a woman; it is a detestable act.
Leviticus 20:13 (NET) – 13 If a man has sexual intercourse with a male as one has sexual intercourse with a woman, the two of them have committed an abomination. They must be put to death; their blood guilt is on themselves.
Romans 1:26–27 (NET) – 26 For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged the natural sexual relations for unnatural ones,27 and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed in their passions for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Nothing more needs to be said – same-sex relationships contradict biblical teachings. The truth of the matter is those who engage in serial unrepentant homosexual practice are on the road to hell per 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 (NET) which reads:
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals,10 thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But, the “good news” of the gospel saves those engaged in serial unrepentant homosexual practice per 1 Corinthians 6:11 (NET), which reads:
11 Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
In reference to “biological sex”, Dr. Brown correctly writes that God created mankind “male” and “female”. Relevant passages are:
Genesis 1:27 (NET) – 27 God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.
Genesis 5:2 (NET) – 2 He created them male and female; when they were created, he blessed them and named them “humankind.”
Matthew 19:4 (NET) – 4 He answered, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female,
Mark 10:6 (NET) – 6 But from the beginning of creation he made them male and female.
There is no gender beyond “male” and “female.” There is no third, fourth, etc gender. While people may be confused about their gender, Dr. Brown writes:
There may be people who are confused about their sexual identity, in which case we should love them and help them rather than hate them or shun them. And there may be people with biological or chromosomal abnormalities (this is called intersex), in which case we should treat them with gentleness and compassion, just as we would someone with any type of disability. But under no circumstances should we change reality, affirming someone’s internal confusion. (Note that the vast majority of those who identify as transgender are not intersex.)
Dr. Brown spells out the downward spiral that comes from denying that God created only two genders. The result is a spiral into fantasyland with an essentially infinite number of genders and multiple-gendered people.
At the end of the article, Dr. Brown gives out a strong call for Christian leaders, especially Pastors, to biblically treat those of engage in these practices and to PROCLAIM TRUTH:
As for … those involved in same-sex relationships and those who identify as transgender, Jesus shed the same blood for each of them as for each of us. All of us come to the cross as lost sinners, all of us need God’s amazing grace, and all of us can be cleansed and forgiven and transformed. That is the power of the Gospel. That is the power of the blood of Jesus.
**
It is imperative that Christian leaders, especially pastors, lay out the Biblical teaching on these critical subjects with both courage and compassion. As I have often said, we need hearts of compassion and backbones of steel. That’s why it is crucial that parents and educators give their children and students clear Biblical foundations. And that’s why, in all things, we need a fresh baptism of the love of God for those who differ with us.
America can only be saved and changed by the Gospel, and as much as we must advocate for good laws to replace bad laws, our ultimate goal must be the changing of hearts and minds through the power of Christ. With God it is possible!
In my view, the American Christian evangelical church exists in perilous times. The Christian church is in the cross-hairs of the transgender movement of the LGBTQ agenda. Liberal politicians and mainline news media flock to support the godless agenda of gender transition, “affirming care”, and drag queen shows. Many in the medical community for in favor of gender affirming care because of the money. Believers who advocate a biblical morality about “biological sex” face the potential for violence (e.g., Covenant School shooting in Nashville). No doubt, believers need to be aware of and careful about their person safety.
Further, I agree with Dr. Brown that believers must be willing to share the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel is the only hope for this world and especially those connected with the transgender movement.

IF YOU ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN
… please (1) read through “God’s Plan of Salvation” so you can understand what God did for you through His only unique Son, Jesus Christ, and (2), from the bottom of your heart, pray the “Sinner’s Prayer” meaning every word. If you do, you will be reconciled to God – saved – through Jesus Christ.
God’s Plan of Salvation
In the beginning, God, who is holy, created the entire universe. As a part of His creative actions, He made humans (male and female) in His image to know Him. For a while, everything was right between God and our ancestors, Adam and Eve. But Adam and Eve sinned, whereby sin was passed down to all of humankind so that we became sinners separated from God. Nothing we could do on our own could bridge that separation so that without God’s intervention, hell would be our eternal destination.
Fortunately for us, in His great love and mercy God provided humankind with the only means of salvation, which is through Jesus Christ who is God’s only unique Son. While retaining His deity, God the Son became a man in Jesus, lived a perfect life, and died a substitutionary atoning death on the cross, thus fulfilling the law Himself and taking on Himself the punishment for the sins of all those who would ever repent and trust in Him for their salvation. Jesus rose from the dead, showing that God the Father accepted Christ’s sacrifice and exhausted God’s wrath against every believer. He now calls all unbelievers to repent of their sins and trust alone in what Christ did to save them.
If we repent of our sins and completely trust in Christ alone that He died for our sins and rose to life from the dead, we are born again into a new life, an eternal life with God.

“Sinner’s Prayer”
Lord, Jesus Christ, the only unique Son of God, thank You for Your free gift of eternal life. I know I’m a sinner who cannot save myself no matter what I do, and I deserve to spend eternity in hell. But, I know that because You loved me so much, You voluntarily died on the cross for me taking my sins upon Yourself, and You physically bodily rose from the grave showing that Your sacrificial death was sufficient payment to give me eternal life in Heaven. I now repent of my sins and completely trust alone in what You did for my eternal salvation. Please take control of my life as I now receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You so much for saving me. I am now Yours forever!
