It is no surprise that during this COVID-19 pandemic, people’s “worry quotient” has skyrocketed.  Many people have lost or are losing hope because the things in which they trusted such as finances, employment, entertainment, safety, security, and health are gone or are in jeopardy of being lost.  Some feel that they have nowhere to turn or no place to go.  They feel like the walls are closing in and they have no hope.  If that is you, then let me explain the “big picture” and why there is eternal hope available to you through Jesus Christ.

In the beginning, God created the entire universe and all that was in it including humans.  Humans were created in God’s image and were supposed to experience unhindered fellowship with God forever.  For a while, everything was perfect between God and your ancestors, Adam and Eve.  Tragically, Adam rebelled against God through disobedience which resulted in separation from God along with a death sentence of an eternity of torment in hell.  Because God designed that Adam would represent the entire human race, the separation and death sentence has been passed down to all human beings including you.  There is nothing you can do on your own (e.g., go to church, do good works, give money to worthy causes, etc.) to bridge the separation or remove the death sentence.

After Adam’s rebellion, God would have been perfectly just to leave matters as they were so that all human beings would have been under eternal damnation to hell.  But, God in a display of His infinite love and grace sent His only unique Son, Jesus Christ, to earth where, even though He retained His deity, He took on human form.  On earth, Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, died a physical death on the cross, and after three days in the tomb rose from the dead in a physical bodily resurrection.  Through His perfect life, physical death, and physical bodily resurrection, Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the Law and took upon Himself the punishment for all the sins of all persons who would ever receive Him as their Lord and Savior.

Looking at this in a personal context, if you want to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, go before God and: (1) admit that you are a sinner in need of the Savior, Jesus Christ, (2) repent of your sins meaning that you have a heartfelt sorrow for your sins whereby you turn away from your sins toward God, (3) believe the historical facts that Jesus Christ lived a perfect life while on earth, died on the cross, and rose from the dead in a physical bodily resurrection, (4) place your complete trust in what Jesus did through His life, death and resurrection is complete payment for the forgiveness of your sins thereby satisfying the wrath of God the Father resulting in the forgiveness of all your sins (past, present and future) and eternal life, and (5) surrender control of your life to Jesus Christ asking Him to be your Lord and Savior whereby you receive Jesus Christ into your heart.  If you will take the above actions with a sincere and honest heart, God will send His Holy Spirit to indwell you as the down payment and guarantee of the ultimate gift of an eternity in the presence of God Himself in a new heaven and new earth.

It is important for you to clearly understand that the only alternative to spending eternity in the presence of God is to be forever separated from His presence in the torment of hell.  Before it is too late, what you must do is receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior so that today is the day of your salvation.

If you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we would like to send you some information about what it means to be a Christian and live the Christian life.  If possible, we would like to talk with you about your salvation so that you truly understand what receiving Christ really means from this day going forward.  Please contact us at steve@stevebelsheim.com
